SHAH ALAM, April 30 — The largest e-sports development centre in Southeast Asia will be built in Selangor at the cost of more than RM10 million.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the centre that will be equipped with a training academy, accommodation, studios and instructors, is expected to be operational from next year.

“Today is the most important programme in the history of the Selangor government because this agreement signing ceremony aims to support the state government’s efforts to create an e-sports development centre.

“This development is expected to cost more than RM10 million, from the financial collaboration between the private (sector) and the state government,” he said at the agreement signing ceremony between Serba Dinamik Group Berhad and the e-sports association at Hotel Mardhiyyah here.

He said the centre will use the former Carlton Hotel in Section 13 which will be renovated and expected to be completed by the end of this year.

“This year we have the RM3 million allocation for us to go down to the districts for e-sports development and next year we will use this centre,” he said.
