SHAH ALAM, June 26 — Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP) which starts on Monday (June 28), will benefits 2.5 million people in Selangor, including manufacturing industry players, says state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

She said 500,000 complete doses of the vaccine would be given to the public who have yet to receive the date for their vaccination appointment despite having registered for a long time on the MySejahtera application.

She said the rest will be given to the front line team of the state government administration, especially agencies staff and teachers.

“The vaccines are also offered to small traders and e-hailing workers because they are the driving force behind the state’s economy.

“Factory owners who buy the vaccines from the Selangor government are reminded to give them for free to their employees. Many are willing to buy instead of having to stop operations,” she said during Studio Birumuda’s virtual forum titled “PH Report Card: Fighting Covid-19’ which was aired live on Facebook on Thursday.

Dr Siti Mariah explained applications for the immunisation programme via Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd (Selgate) have been encouraging reaching more than four million so far.

SCVP will be implemented on a large scale to complement the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), starting with the opening of more than 20 vaccination centres (PPVs) throughout Selangor from next week.

On June 9, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced during the unveiling of the Kita Selangor 2.0 Package an allocation of RM200 million for SCVP.
