Better promotions increase foreigners participation in community screening

PETALING JAYA, June 19 — The number of foreigners participating in Phase 3 of the free Covid-19 community screening in Kampung Lindungan here today has increased to five per cent compared to previously.

Seri Setia state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said the increase from two per cent was due to the effectiveness of the advertisements and promotions done by his team in inviting the public to do the screening.

“This time, all our advertisements say ‘foreigners are welcomed’, which made them confident of coming and undergoing screening today.

“In the Seri Setia state constituency, there are factories that are allowed to operate during the MCO (movement control order) and the workers consist of foreigners. Through this way, we will be able to curb the spread of the pandemic,’ he told SelangorKini today.

He said more than 1,000 individuals are expected to participate in the free screening at the Dewan Komuniti MBPJ in Kampung Lindungan, which covers Seri Setia and Taman Medan constituencies.

On June 9, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the third phase of the free screening focuses on hotspots areas as well as industrial and manufacturing sectors, with a target of 100,000 individuals screened.

Amirudin said since its introduction last year more than 100,000 individuals were screened under Phase 1 that ran during MCO 1.0 and 2.0, and Phase 2 from May 8 to June 10 this year.
