Census 2020: 22.5 million Malaysians enumerated

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 —  A total of 22.5 million out of 32.7 million Malaysians or 68.9 per cent have completed the Malaysia Population and Housing Census 2020 (Census 2020).

Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the online census (e-Census) and data collection using the computer-assisted telephone interview (CATI) method would be continued until all Malaysians had been enumerated.

However, he said, face-to-face interviews for Census 2020 could not be carried out at present due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of Phase One of the Movement Control under the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

“This decision was taken to assist the government’s efforts to curb and break the chain of Covid-19 infection.

“As such, members of the public who have not yet completed the census are urged to cooperate by filling in the information through the e-Census or telephone call system. For more information, visit the portal www.mycensus.gov.my or contact the nearest state DOSM office,” he said in a statement today.
