MORIB, June 4: A total of 3,168 out of 87,903 individuals that participated in the free Covid-19 community screenings programme organised by the state government were suspected to be Covid-19 positive.
State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the cases were detected through screenings using the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) at 42 locations from May 8 until yesterday.
“Our main focus is for early detection of individuals who appear healthy or have no symptoms but are actually ‘silent carriers’ of Covid-19 in the community.
“We want to detect as many ‘silent carriers’ as possible, that is why we expanded the screening throughout the state,” she said after inspecting the free Covid-19 community screening at the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) hall here today.
She said they targeted to get more than 100,000 participation from residents in all 56 state constituencies when the programme ends on June 10.
The programme under the Covid-19 Pandemic Outbreak Mitigation Phase benefits the people of this state who are at risk, have been in close contact, are symptomatic and worried about their health status.
Registration for the free testing can be done through the SELangkah app or its website at screening.selangkah.my/login.
