KUALA SELANGOR, June 5 — A total of 89,716 antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag) samples were collected through the free Covid-19 community screenings in 44 state constituencies so far.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said from the total figure, 86,513 or 96.43 per cent of the samples were found to be negative for Covid-19 while 3,203 or 3.57 per cent were found positive.

“Most samples are from individuals aged between 20 to 40 years. These people are aware of the need for screening as they are always actively moving till they get infected.

“Following that, we detected suspected positive cases involving them with the majority being asymptomatic,” he said at the community screening in Sungai Gulang-Gulang Public Hall under the Permatang constituency here today.

The 9am to 4pm programme was also conducted simultaneously at Dato’ Hormat Hall, in Tanjong Karang which targetted the community in Sungai Burong constituency.

Meanwhile, Mohd Noor said his team was always ready to screen more individuals taking into account the sufficient supply of RTK-Ag kits and their strong number of health workers.

“As proof, we managed to screen more than 50,000 people, which is more than the initial target,” he added.

Selangor had initiated the free screening operation to be held across its 56 state constituencies from May 8 to June 10.
