Dr Dzulkefly disappointed Selangor’s vaccination rate still ‘lowest’

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, 23 June — Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad expressed his disappointments as the vaccination rate in the state is still “the lowest”.

According to the infographic chart showing the ratio of Covid-19 vaccine recipients to the number of registrations and death rate which Dzulkefly had shared on his Twitter yesterday, only 17.15 per cent of the population have been vaccinated as of June 20.

The statistics also showed that the state recorded the highest fatalities due to Covid-19 for a period of ten days.

“Selangor is still the lowest despite the Sultan of Selangor (Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj) expressed his disappointments over the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF),” he wrote.

Dzulkefly, who is also a former health minister, claimed that the immunisation rate in Selangor has not changed much since he raised the issue on May 28.

The statistics shared at the time had noted that the state recorded only 7.46 per cent of its population vaccinated while registering a 33.96 per cent death rate.

On June 8, His Royal Highness had voiced his hope that the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) would speed up and increase the number of vaccine doses for the state’s residents.

The Selangor Ruler was surprised when the CITF confirmed that Selangor had only received 615,210 Covid-19 vaccine doses and not 2.9 million as previously claimed.

His Royal Highness had also expressed the unfair and unbalanced vaccine distribution due to Selangor’s high population of 6.5 million.
