SABAK BERNAM, June 12 — The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) imposed on three housing estates in Sabak Bernam will expire at midnight tonight.

The 14 days EMCO in Taman Pertama, Taman Serendah and Taman Prima was imposed on May 30.

Sabak Bernam district officer Amri Ismail said the decision was made after taking into account the reduction in Covid-19 cases following cooperation from the residents in adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Therefore, after making an assessment with agencies under the District Disaster Management Committee and on the advice of the National Security Council (NSC), we agreed to end the EMCO in all three locations starting midnight tonight,” he said in a press conference here.

The EMCO was imposed on the three housing estates due to a significant increase in Covid-19 cases over a short period of time with 113 infections detected from 1,237 screenings.

One Covid-19 fatality involving a senior citizen who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure was also recorded from one of the housing estates.
