SHAH ALAM, March 4 — Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has allows ‘akad nikah’ (marriage solemnisation) ceremonies for Muslim couples to be performed in person again starting July 1.
In a posting on Facebook today, Jais informed the event can only be performed at Jais office and District Religious Offices (Paid) from Monday to Friday.
Couples also need to get an appointment date for the event and the number of attendees is limited only to the groom, bride and the bride’s ‘wali’ or guardian.
Jais said the groom, bride and wali must also take the Real-Time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests 72 hours (3 days) before the event.
On June 1, marriage solemnisation ceremonies and all services under the (Jais) were postponed following the implementation of the total lockdown nationwide.
