SHAH ALAM, June 5 — The Covid-19 immunisation programme at senior folks’ care centres and persons with disabilities (OKU) in the state will begin this Tuesday.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) will mobilise 16 teams to ensure that the groups involved get vaccinated.

Based on the schedule shared by Amirudin on Facebook, the programme which will run in stages involves 1,893 individuals including staff at 68 senior folks’ care centres.

“The concept of ‘outreach’ or mobile vaccination is implemented to reduce the risk to the two groups.

“Hopefully, this initiative will help increase the vaccination rate in Selangor and achieve the goal of herd immunity,” he said.

Amirudin explained that the programme is offered to government care centres or the Social Welfare Department, care centres licensed under Act 506 and Act 586 as well as unlicensed private care centres.
