MB visits free Covid-19 community screenings in two state constituencies

By Zareef Muzammil

KUALA SELANGOR, June 6 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari visited the free Covid-19 community screenings programme held simultaneously at two locations today.

He started his visit at the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) Hall in Bandar Baru Kuala Selangor at 2.45pm followed by a trip to the Kampung Bukit Badong Public Hall, in Ijok.

Amirudin praised the local community for taking advantage of the free community screenings programmes organised by the state government to detect Covid-19 infection.

“I understand that between 300 to 500 individuals participated in the screening in these two locations, thus proving the level of awareness and understanding of the people on the importance of screening is increasing.

“This screening can at least detect sporadic effect among the community because the latest variant has shown that many (who are infected) are asymptomatic,” he said when met.

During the almost an hour-long visit, Amirudin witnessed the screening process conducted by Selcare Clinic staff.

Prior to the visit, a survey by SelangorKini since 9am found people who came for the screening complied with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) by registering through the SELangkah app, while also maintaining social distancing and checking their body temperature.

The screening location is tightly controlled by MDKS enforcers, the police and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel.

The Selangor government is conducting active monitoring of the Covid-19 situation by initiating free screenings across the 56 state constituencies beginning May 8 until June 10.

The programme under the Covid-19 Pandemic Outbreak Mitigation Phase benefits the people of this state who are at risk, have been in close contact, are symptomatic and worried about their health status, as of yesterday it had covered 46 state constituencies.
