MPKj help 383 people in Semenyih sign up for Covid-19 vaccine

SHAH ALAM, June 23 — A total of 383 residents in Semenyih have successfully registered as vaccine recipients through a mobile campaign organised by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) on Saturday.

Of the total, 155 individuals registered for the Covid-19 vaccine at Pasar Awam Pekan Semenyih, followed by 94 others in Kampung Pasir Baru and 134 in Kampung Sungai Machang.

MPKj public relation officer Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman said 80 per cent of the registrations recorded during the programme were senior citizens.

“Most of them did not know how to register via the MySejahtera mobile app, missed their appointment dates, and were unable to attend because the vaccination center (PPV) is located far from home while others do not have smartphones.

“They expressed their gratitude for the programme as it allows them to ask further details about the vaccines,” said Kamarul Izlan when contacted by SelangorKini, yesterday.

The campaign which started from 8.30am to 5pm serves as an approach to increase the awareness among the residents on the importance of vaccines and how it can protect themselves from the virus.

“It also helps to provide direct access to vaccine registration especially to those who are not familiar with digitalisation or those who are facing other limitations,” he said.
