Phase 3 of Selangor’s free testing to begin on Saturday in Covid-19 hotspots

SHAH ALAM, June 16 — The third phase of Selangor’s free Covid-19 community screening will begin on June 19 in Covid-19 hotspots that were identified via Phase 2 of the testing programme.

The second phase was held throughout the 56 Selangor state constituencies from May 8 to June 10.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said those who have tested positive for Covid-19 will also receive Home Assessment Kits when undergoing home quarantine.

“The Covid-19 screening Phase 3 will be held for free for the people in Selangor, starting with the state constituencies that have registered over 5 per cent of positive cases during the second phase.”

“Signup via the SELangkah app by selecting the Screening Registration under the Health button, or visit screening.selangkah.my/login. Together we move towards successfully defeating the Covid-19 outbreak,” said Amirudin on Facebook today.

Meanwhile, Seri Setia assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said the free screening initiative that will be held in his constituency, as well as Taman Medan on Saturday, is set to see some 7,000 individuals come forward.

“The screening will be extended until 6pm if the attendance is high. Both locals and foreigners are invited to undergo the testing to trace carriers of the virus especially those who are asymptomatic.

“We were informed today that some 6,000 to 7,000 people are expected to participate. I advise the public to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and to not bring babies along to avoid infection,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini today.

As for Taman Medan representative Syamsul Firdaus Mohamed Supri, he said the people should take advantage of the state government’s initiative to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

“The state government is currently focusing on the screening initiative and will also proceed with the vaccination drive,” he said.
