Sabak Bernam EMCO: More than 5,000 residents screened for Covid-19

SABAK BERNAM, June 12 — A total of 5,235 Sabak Bernama residents placed under the enhanced movement control order (ECMO) have undergone Covid-19 screening.

Sabak Bernam District Health Officer, Dr A L Liza Abd Latip said out of the total, 164 individuals were confirmed Covid-19 positive.

“Those infected are from various age groups ranging from children to adults. There were three Covid-19 related deaths involving senior citizens aged 66 and above, all with a history of chronic diseases,” she said.

She said this during a press conference announcing the end of the EMCO enforced on Taman Pertama, Taman Serendah and Taman Prima, at the Sabak Bernam Disaster Operations Control Centre here today.

The 14 days EMCO in the three housing estates in Sabak Bernam was imposed on May 30, due to a significant increase in Covid-19 cases over a short period of time with 113 infections detected from 1,237 screenings.
