Sirim offers face mask manufacturers 20 pct rebate for testing, certification services

SHAH ALAM, June 16 — Sirim Bhd through its wholly-owned unit, Sirim QAS International Sdn Bhd, will be giving a 20 per cent rebate to face mask manufacturers under the product testing and certification services package from June 15 until year-end, subject to terms and conditions.

In a statement today, Sirim president and group chief executive Datuk Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad said Sirim would continuously build business resiliency, especially among local small and medium enterprises, besides carrying out its role that has been mandated by the government.

“This is to ensure Sirim services cover important sectors during the movement control order by providing remote services including testing, inspection, verification, measurements to ensure safety, reliability and quality of the product sold during the period.

“Through Sirim Industrial Research, the organisation is also active in various research and development works related to the Covid-19 vaccine, including verification of manufacturing and other related safety testing processes,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Sabirin said the National Recovery Plan announced by the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday provided a clear strategy for the nation to exit the Covid-19 crisis.

He said the success of the plan also depended on the cooperation of various parties including the community and the industries.

“Strict adherence to standard operating procedures and achieving herd immunity through vaccination has proven effective in most countries and we believe Malaysia is now on track to regain a normal life,” he added.
