SHAH ALAM, June 30 — Selangor state representatives received many applications from the people seeking food aid and devices for teaching and learning at home (PdPR) method since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.

Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli said most of the applicants are individuals not allowed to work by their employers and or have lost their jobs.

“We received many complaints and grievances, especially on food because many have lost their source of income. In fact yesterday, netizens launched the fly the white flag campaign, as the community is now very stressed due to living under pressure.

“We also get complaints about education, especially in rural areas where there are no gadgets for PdPR, maybe they have three to four children but only one gadget,” she said during the Media Selangor’s Bual Bicara virtual talk show titled ‘Finding The Way Out’ that was aired live on Media Selangor’s Facebook page and SelangorTV Youtube channel last night.

Juwairiya said the Selangor government is aware of the situation and have introduced the Kita Selangor 2.0 Package to help the people by providing comprehensive allocation, including for the opposition.

Through the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 announced on June 9, the Mesra Rakyat programme allocation to all 56 State Assemblyman including from the opposition, was increased to RM100,000.

Also in the spirit of ‘Kita Selangor’, the state government also agreed to provide an additional allocation of RM50,000 for the programme, involving a total of RM3.28 million.
