Tajuddin issued RM1,500 compound for not wearing face mask at press conference

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — Former Prasarana Malaysia Berhad chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been issued with a RM1,500 compound for failing to wear a face mask during a press conference on May 25.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, in a statement today, said the compound notice was issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 as required in the movement control order (MCO).

The RM1,500 compound will be issued in the near future, he said.

Mohamad Zainal also advised the public to continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (NSCN) in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recently, the police had opened an investigation paper after videos of Tajuddin wearing a face shield but not a face mask at the press conference had gone viral on social media.

Among individuals called to give statements pertaining to the case at the Dang Wangi police headquarters was Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman regarding his tweet on Tajuddin’s action.
