Transport rebate to get Covid-19 jab, public urged to be screened

SHAH ALAM, June 10 — The third strategy under the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 introduces several initiatives on health control to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari when announcing the stimulus package yesterday said the initiatives include efforts to identify the silent carriers of the infection within the community, encourage the people to get themselves screened as well as prevent the virus from spreading at workplaces.

The strategy consists of:

1. Conducting the third phase of the free Covid-19 community screening targeting 100,000 individuals with a financial implication of RM10.7 million.

2. Food basket and home-assessment kits for those tested positive for Covid-19 via the Selangor’s mass testing with a total financial implication of RM1.25 million.

3. RM20 rebate for Grab users who use the e-hailing service to transport themselves to vaccination centres. The initiative is to benefit 50,000 individuals with a financial implication of RM1 million.

4. RM500,000 to set up the Special Committee on Health Control Compliance for Industries to oversee the management and control of the spread of Covid-19 at factories and industrial sectors as well as assist in the implementation of vaccination programmes for economic frontliners.

In March last year, the state administration announced the Selangor Prihatin economic stimulus package worth RM127.78 million followed by the second phase on April 1 worth RM272 million.

The state’s economic recovery plan of RM55.8 billion in economic value was tabled on July 13 last year, followed by the Kita Selangor Package amounting to 73.8 million, which was announced on January 20 this year.
