Zamani Ahmad sworn in as ninth Shah Alam mayor

SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Dato’ Zamani Ahmad Mansor was sworn in as Shah Alam’s ninth mayor at Wisma MBSA (Shah Alam City Council) here today.

His appointment, which took effect yesterday, replaced former mayor Dato’ Haris Kasim, who was appointed as the State Financial Officer in March.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in accordance with the set standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Speaking later, Zamani said he is focusing on six thrusts to ensure the best services are given to the people under the administration of the MBSA.

The six thrusts are strengthening municipal services, strengthening finance by increasing collection and strengthening infrastructure development, reaching out to stakeholders and communities with the new norms, cultivating information technology and empowering human resources.

“With extensive experience in the field of management and administration, Zamani Ahmad’s appointment as mayor is expected to drive the MBSA to be an excellent local authority not only in Selangor and Malaysia but also on the international stage,” the MBSA said in a statement, today.

Also present at the swearing-in ceremony were deputy mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan and representatives of the MBSA council.

Zamani holds a Master of Science (Management) degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), a Bachelor of Science (Management) (Hons) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Diploma of Science (Management) from the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan).

1996 — Served in the Land and Cooperative Development Ministry
1997 — Assistant secretary in the Transport Ministry
2001 — Assistant director of the Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD)
2003 — Assistant director (National Service Division) in the Defence Ministry
2004 — Chief assistant director in the National Security Division
2007 — Chief assistant director of the National Security Council
2008 — Served in the Public Service Department
2009 — Served in the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu)
2013 — Divisional secretary in the Selangor State Secretary’s Office
2015 — Secretary of Kajang Municipal Council
2018 — Selangor Deputy State Secretary (Management)
14 June 2021 — Appointed as Shah Alam mayor
