SHAH ALAM, July 22 — A new supply of 250,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine which will be received in stages starting tomorrow, will enable more people to be vaccinated under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax).

State executive councillor for industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said with it, vaccination capacity for the community especially the industrial worker would be boosted, as currently, it caters to only 4,000 recipients a day, whereas Selvax is able to dispense around 47,000 jabs a day.

“This effort will be intensified once the new supply comes in as according to the agreement by the Federal government, 250,000 doses of vaccine will be supplied in stages starting from July 23 (tomorrow).

“Each delivery consists of around 83,000 doses, hence we are confident that all the vaccines can be administered by August,” he said when contacted, today.

According to Teng, as of yesterday, a total of 13,811 recipients have completed two doses of the vaccine, of which 12,507 people are under the Selvax Industry and the remaining 1,304 are from the Selvax Community.

He added that so far 80,182 individuals have received the first dose of the vaccine under the Selangor Vaccination Programme or Selvax, since it started on July 7.

On June 30, the state government launched the Selvax Community and Selvax Industry to expedite the vaccination process for the people in the state.

A total of 1.25 million people in Selangor will benefit from the programme which focuses on the low-income group, senior citizens and industrial workers.
