GOMBAK, July 21 — A total of 4,600 residents of Sungai Tua and Gombak Setia will receive their second dose of vaccines at Dewan Sri Siantan vaccination centre (PPV) starting today.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) for the community (Selvax Community) will be carried out in stages and expected to be completed on July 23.

“Previously residents in both areas were among the earliest to receive the first dose of vaccines and today, some 1,600 individuals will complete their second doses.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), the responses are encouraging and the process went on smoothly. We have provided a few tents outside the hall so that the people can sit down while waiting for their turn,” Amirudin said when visiting the PPV.

Amirudin, who is also the state assemblyman for Sungai Tua, said the programme handled by Selgate Healthcare is expected to get more active from July 26 onward as more people will get their vaccines to help achieve herd immunity.

“We hope everything will go on smoothly as the implementation involves the community and industrial workers which would boost the (daily) dose capacity in Klang Valley, in line with what the Federal government announced,” he said.

Under the Selvax Industry initiative, the state government had allocated a total of two million vaccine doses to one million workers, including the foreign workers as part of the effort to curb the outbreak from the workplaces.

Meanwhile, for Selvax Community, 500,000 doses were allocated and it is expected to benefit 250,000 people.
