SHAH ALAM July 30 — A total of 6,200 companies have registered to procure vaccines through the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) initiative for the industrial sector (Selvax Industry), says Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.

The state executive councillor for industry and trade said most of the companies are from the manufacturing and services sectors.

“A total of 134,837 vaccine doses were administered through the Selvax programme, of which 102,089 under the Selvax Industry, and 32,748 via the Selvax Community.

“The state government always welcomes efforts to boost the vaccination process regardless of whether it is through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) or Selvax,” he said when contacted.

Selangor has provided two million doses of vaccines to one million workers in the state, including foreign workers, as part of the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 at workplaces.

The initiative through Selvax Industry is only open to companies and it is not sold to individuals. The initiative is to complement the PICK.

The total cost for two doses of vaccine procured by the state government for the Selvax Industry programme is RM350 which is fully borne by the employers.
