SERDANG, July 9 — Selangor state representatives are urged to be more alert of the people in their constituencies, especially to those who have raised the white flag as a sign in seeking help.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the white flag campaign should not be taken lightly as it shows that the community is facing a tough time.

“The community has come to this extent (raising a white flag), therefore we must support them because this is the reality that the people are facing.

“Although some might just want to take advantage (of the campaign) but the number is small. If we find the white flag, we need to investigate and help out immediately,” he said when met after handing over food assistance to the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students organised by the Selangor Student Welfare and Development Programme yesterday.

The white flag campaign, or #benderaputih, was initiated by the people for the people as a move channel help those in need without any political involvement.

Through the campaign, people who are in distress would raise a white flag as a symbol that they need immediate help.
