BUKIT BERUNTUNG, July 23 —The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI donated four tablets to eight siblings who lost both their parents to Covid-19 last week.

Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the gadgets would facilitate the children’s home-based teaching and learning (PdPR).

“Yesterday, Batang Kali constituency coordinator handed over two laptops so today (July 22) we visited them and donated four tablets to help them in terms of their educational matters.

“The coordinator will also sponsor the home internet service charges that they are currently using until the end of the year,” he said, yesterday.

Earlier, he had visited Nazurah Nabilah Benyajeed, 19, along with her seven other siblings who became orphaned after their parents, Noraini Ibrahim, 43, and Benyajeed Bernie, 45, passed away on July 16 and 18 respectively due to Covid-19.

Ahmad Azri said starting October, six of them who are currently in primary school, secondary school and higher institution centre will also receive the Selangor Internet Data sim card for their online learning process.

The Selangor Internet Data programme with an allocation of RM17.5 million was announced by the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on June 9.

The SIM cards are offered to targeted groups for RM35 per month. Users would only be required to pay RM15 monthly for 12 months as the remaining RM20 per month is subsidised by the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI.
