Misbun Sidek’s wife dies

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Datin Latifah Sidek, wife of national badminton legend Datuk Misbun Sidek died yesterday.

The matter was confirmed by the National Sports Council (MSN) on its Facebook page last night.

“It is sad to inform that Datin Latifah returned to the Almighty just now. Let us all pray for that her soul may be placed among those loved by Him.

“Condolences to Datuk Misbun and family,” read the entry.

The late Latifah was previously reported to be at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) since July 10.

Misbun, a former national player and national coach, who is now the Technical Director of the National Youth Squad, married Latifah in 1987.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased via his social media account.

“Let us pray that the soul of Allahyarhamah will always remain in the mercy and love of Allah, and be placed among the pious and faithful,” he said.
