NSC: Workshops, laundry services start operating today

SHAH ALAM, July 17 — Vehicle workshops, hardware stores and laundry services (including self-service) are allowed to operate throughout Selangor starting today following the termination of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in its 34 subdistricts yesterday.

Based on the National Security Council (NSC) ruling in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), the premises can operate from 8am to 8pm.

During the same period, the NSC also allowed baby goods stores, eyewear, pharmacies, supermarkets and animal clinics to operate.

While eateries, restaurants and roadside stalls are allowed to open from 6am to 10pm compared to previously from 8am to 8pm.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the termination of EMCO in 34 subdistricts in the state that was enforced for two weeks since July 3.

Among other SOPs allowed:

  • Two people per household are allowed in one car, travel is still limited to a radius of 10km from the place of residence to buy food, basic necessities.
  • Three people in one car for treatment, vaccinations, emergencies.
  • 20 per cent of civil servants are allowed to work in offices while 60 per cent for private-sector workers.
  • Jogging and non-contact sports activities are allowed from 7am to 8pm.
  • Petrol stations are open from 6am to 8pm, while stations on the highway may operate 24 hours.
