Over 1,000 applications received for RM20 rebate for Grab rides to PPV

SHAH ALAM, July 8 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI said more than 1,000 applications have been submitted as of noon yesterday for the RM20 rebate for using e-hailing rides to vaccination centres (PPV) in Selangor since it was recently opened to everyone in the state.

Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said applications were pouring in as soon the Menteri Besar made the announcement of the extended requirements on Tuesday.

“About 95 per cent of the applications will be approved as the information we received had met the criteria.

“Among the terms to apply for the rebate include having a Grab account with an address registered in the state and have received the vaccination appointment date until September 30,” he told SelangorKini when contacted yesterday.

Ahmad Azri had also advised the public to avoid applying for the incentive on the same day of their inoculation appointments as this would cause the application to be rejected since the approval process is done within 24 hours.

On Tuesday, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that the rebate initiative in partnership with Grab Malaysia was open to individuals aged 18 and above to travel to the vaccination centres for their immunisation appointments.

Previously, the initiative, which was given an allocation of RM1 million under the Kita Selangor Package 2.0, was only open to those aged 50 and above. The expansion of the service is expected to benefit almost 50,000 individuals statewide.

Applications for the transport rebate programme of RM10 for a one-way trip of RM20 for a round trip was open from June 20 for rides to all PPV in the state and Kuala Lumpur between July 1 and September 30.
