Photos of traffic crawl at Gombak toll plaza old ones — Police

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — The photographs of traffic congestion at the Gombak Toll Plaza, near here, supposedly due to interstate movement in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration on Tuesday, are old ones that have been deliberately circulated on social media again.

Gombak Police chief ACP Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said that from their observation, the 700-metre (m) to 800m traffic crawl was normal due to the strict and thorough inspection conducted by police at the roadblock.

“A majority of the motorists also had valid reasons and permission letters to travel, such as for vaccinations, trucks carrying food and other matters permitted by police,” he told reporters after conducting an inspection at the Gombak toll plaza roadblock today.

He stressed that police would not compromise with those who flouted directives on interstate movement.

Zainal also advised the public to stop uploading pictures or videos of congestions at the toll plaza which could cause annoyance to the people.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Azisman Alias, when contacted by Bernama, said traffic flow on all highways and major roads was smooth and under control as at 1 pm today.

He added that Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani’s directive that police would not accept documents from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) as a valid movement approval for four days from today until Wednesday (July 21) for interstate travel had also helped reduce traffic flow.
