SHAH ALAM, July 1 — The RM1,000 cash aid for Covid-19 patients or their next of kin, which has been recently circulated on Facebook and Whatsapp, is part of the state government’s initiatives last year, says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The state executive councillor for public health said the news article on the special assistance that is being shared online had ended on December 31, 2020, and was part of the incentives under the Selangor Cares stimulus package.

“For the year 2021, the state government has announced the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 on June 9, which includes various initiatives based on the latest developments in the state.

“The initiatives announced include the financial assistance or death benefit scheme of RM1,000 for the family or next of kin of Covid-19 patients who passed away due to the infection,” said Dr Siti Mariah on Facebook.

She added that the application procedure and disbursement of the cash aid will be managed by Selcare and details will be announced soon.

The Kita Selangor Package 2.0 has allocated a RM1,000 death benefit aid for the next of kin of Covid-19 patients who succumbed to the infection.
