Covid-19: New cases rise to 21,468, Selangor back to 7,000-mark

SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — The daily Covid-19 cases in the country has exceeded 21,000 for the second consecutive day with 21,468 new cases reported today.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a tweet today said with the new cases, the cumulative number of cases has increased to 1,363,683.

Selangor continued to report the highest number of new infections at 7,449 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,183 cases.

Five other states outside the Klang Valley reported cases in the four digits which are Kedah (1,807), Sabah (1,654), Johor (1,485), Penang (1,316) and Kelantan (1,088).

A total of 974 cases was recorded in Negeri Sembilan, followed by Perak (940), Melaka (723), Sarawak (715), Pahang (572), Terengganu (440), Putrajaya (66), Perlis (50) and Labuan (6).

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded an all-time high of 21,668 new cases.
