Covid-19: New daily cases exceed 20,000 for second consecutive day

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — The daily Covid-19 cases in the country has exceeded 20,000 for the second consecutive day with 20,889 new cases reported today.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a tweet said with the new cases, the cumulative number of cases has increased to 1,224,595.

Selangor continued to report the highest number of new infections at 8,792 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,483 cases.

“In addition Johor (1,275), Sabah (1,291), Negeri Sembilan (986), Kelantan (938), Penang (776), Sarawak (652), Perak (624), Pahang (610), Melaka (491), Terengganu (460) and Putrajaya (122), ”he said.

Meanwhile, Perlis and Labuan recorded nine cases each.
