Five Selvax vaccination centres open for walk-ins

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — Five vaccination centres (PPV) under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) have begun accepting walk-in vaccinations yesterday for individuals who have not yet received an appointment.

The vaccination centres are PPV Tropicana Garden Mall, Petaling Jaya; Evo Mall, Bandar Baru Bangi; Aurora Place, Bukit Jalil; Hotel De Palma, Shah Alam and Kompleks Sukan PKNS, Kelana Jaya.

Selangor’s Operation Surge Capacity coordinator Ong Kian Ming said the move would increase the number of vaccinated individuals in the state and help towards achieving herd immunity sooner.

“Foreigners are allowed (for the walk-in vaccination) from August 10 to 13 at the PPV Kompleks Sukan PKNS in Kelana Jaya,” he said during Media Selangor’s Bual Bicara virtual talk show titled ‘Klang Valley’s Vaccination Surge’ aired live on Media Selangor’s Facebook page and SelangorTV Youtube channel last night.

The Selangor government had launched the Selvax Community and Selvax Industry initiative in June to complete and speed up the vaccination process for the people in the state.

The effort involving a total cost of RM200 million was acknowledged by the Federal government and is included in the framework of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

The programme aims to benefit the low-income group, senior citizens and industrial workers.
