Focus on the people’s welfare in line with Sultan’s decree, state reps told

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Selangor state representatives are reminded to focus on the people’s interest and welfare, as decreed by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafudin Idris Shah Alhaj, says Ng Suee Lim.

The Selangor State Assembly Speaker said the Sultan’s decree is very concise and had conveyed the message that there should be no power disputes among the state representatives as it would affect the people.

“I hope the state representatives in Selangor are not involved in such matters and continue to safeguard the people’s interest. Less politics and focus on how to ensure the people can get their vaccines. This should be our main agenda.

“For those who want to quarrel, let them do so. But in Selangor, we must remain focused on the economic recovery and post-Covid-19 plans,” he said when met after the opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly at the Annex Building, here, today.

Meanwhile, Ng said he was satisfied with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance among the state representatives present during the sitting and hoped it would remain until the end of the session.

He said all the state representatives were provided with antigen rapid self-test kits (RTK-Ag) to ensure that they are free from the Covid-19 virus.

“Most state representatives are constantly communicating with others. Therefore, we provide them with the kits so they can self-test at home and ensure they are not infected,” he said.

On July 9, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the sitting, scheduled until September 6, will be conducted according to the strict SOPs to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

All individuals involved, including media practitioners, must be fully vaccinated and undergo the Covid-19 swab test before the sitting.
