Klang hospital sees 70 pct drop in Covid-19 hospitalisation since last week

KLANG, Aug 19 — The number of admissions of Covid-19 patients at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), here, saw a drop by 70 per cent since last week.

Its director Dr Zulkarnain Mohd Rawi the hospital had previously received an average of 400 Covid-19 patients daily but the figure had dropped to below 100 earlier this month.

“Most of the patients that were admitted this week are among those aged above 50 and have not received their vaccine shots.

“Therefore we urge the public to get vaccinated to protect themselves from getting infected, including pregnant women,” he said.

Earlier, the Klang hospital had received another container to store bodies of dead Covid-19 patients, which was contributed by Port Klang state assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri in collaboration with several other parties.

Earlier this week, HTAR had seen a drop of over 50 per cent admission of Covid-19 cases to the hospital.

The number of Covid-19 patients at the hospital had also dropped from over 1,000 cases recorded in July to less than 900 on August 17.

The hospital had also begun seeing a downward trend in Covid-19 patients in category three and above.
