New Covid-19 cases drop to 18,688 in M’sia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 —  New Covid-19 cases in Malaysia dropped to 18,688 cases today from 19,257 yesterday, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a Twitter post, he said this brings the cumulative figure for positive cases to 1,262,540. 

Selangor again topped the list among states with 6,565 new cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,883; Kedah (1,610); Sabah (1,379); Johor (1,308) and Negeri Sembilan (1,140). 

Kelantan had 870 cases; Perak (861); Penang (694); Pahang (602); Terengganu (598); Sarawak (581); Melaka (526); Putrajaya (63); Perlis (six) and Labuan (two).

On Aug 6, Malaysia recorded 20,889 infections for its highest ever daily figure of COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit the country early last year.
