Over 120,000 Covid-19 vaccines doses administered to foreigners under Selvax

SHAH ALAM, Aug 27 — A total of 120,030 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered to foreigners under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) for Industry and Community as of today.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud added that a total of 333,847 foreigners registered with MySejahtera had completed their two doses while another 597,724 had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“The state government still cares about the well-being of foreigners because they are also part of the community and also contributes to the Selangor economy.

“Selvax Industry is a Selangor initiative to complement the Federal government’s immunisation efforts by helping to speed up vaccination among foreigners,” she told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

She said this while answering an oral question from Rawang state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat regarding the vaccination programme for foreigners during the assembly sitting.

Siti Mariah informed that among the challenges faced in getting foreigners vaccinated was that they do not possess valid documents which caused the group to avoid taking the vaccine.

“In fact, there are foreigners who have (travel) documents with the same passport number but belonging to different countries.

“Another problem is that vaccination appointments for foreigners are given in large groups, causing congestion at vaccination centre (PPV) and also includes those who are under quarantine,” she said.
