BANGI, Aug 16 — More than 15,000 individuals have received their Covid-19 vaccine under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) at the Evo Mall vaccination centre (PPV), here.

Its coordinator Amiroel Zhafran said the cumulative figure was recorded from June 26 until yesterday, with over 8,000 of the total number were contributed from the Selvax Industry initiative.

“The recipients were from 60 companies that have registered with the state government to speed up the vaccination process for their employees.

“The companies include 99 Speed Mart, Public Bank and DHL Express Malaysia.

“We also accepted companies outside Selangor, such as the Melaka Housing Board and M3 Atelier from Melaka and Thiam Sieng Steel from Johor. The employees involved with the programme had received the approval for interstate travel,” he said when met today.

Amiroel said the operation of the PPV would be temporarily halted from August 22 to 27 before resuming the second dose vaccination process on August 28.

“The entire operation will stop on September 3. As of now, most of the participants are from the Hulu Langat area, including foreigners,” he said.

In June, the Selangor government had launched the Selvax Industry and Selvax Selvax Community initiatives as an approach to complete and expedite the vaccination process for its people.

The effort involving a financial cost of RM200 million has been recognised by the Federal government and included in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Among the targeted groups for the programme include the low-income group, senior citizens and industrial workers.
