SELangkah effective, should be used nationwide to curb Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — The SELangkah (Step In, Safely) system that was introduced by the Selangor government should be used throughout the country as it has proven its efficiency in the contact tracing process.

KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital Consultant Paediatrician Datuk Dr Musa Nordin said the app is equipped with the artificial intelligence (AI) feature that helps in conducting the FTTIS method — finding, testing, tracing, isolation and support.

“The SELangkah system had also contributed to the increase in vaccination rate.

“We must use the current digital solution. We are in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0)… we cannot expect to ask medical officers to make a phone call to over 400 houses just to trace the close contacts.

“We also use the MySejahtera app but the app is not effective when it comes to contact tracing, unlike SELangkah.

“When using SELangkah, we are able to stop sporadic cases, clusters and the outbreak of the virus,” he said during a virtual talk show titled ‘Solutions to Save Malaysia’ broadcast live on Reset Malaysia Facebook last night.

Also present were former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed and former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.

Previously, Dr Musa had claimed that the Health Ministry was doing the contact tracing manually because the MySejahtera system is not as advanced as SELangkah.

SELangkah was introduced in May last year to facilitate public monitoring throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and the movement control order.
