Selangor allocates RM14.5 mln for youth, sports programmes

SHAH ALAM, Aug 24 — The state government has allocated a total of RM14.5 million for various activities under the Youth and Sports Programme last year.

State executive councillor for youth and sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the fund involves RM5.26 million for youth development, RM7 million for sports development and RM2.24 million for the refurbishment of sports infrastructure.

“The Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) is committed to carrying out sports development programmes so that we can discover young athletes who are capable of making the state and country proud.

“Among the efforts which have been introduced include Talent Programme, Coaching Programme and Elite Programme. Some RM4.11 million have been allocated for these programmes,” he said when answering the question from Permatang state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin on the approved allocation for sports activities in 2020 during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

Mohd Khairuddin said the state had also taken proactive measures by utilising social media platforms to organise e-sports programmes.

“Among the programmes that have been organised in 2020 include the e-Sports FIFA Piala Budak Kampung, Selangor Xtiv Virtual e-Sport and Selangor Xtiv Virtual Run.

“We have also organised Gelanggang Selangor Virtual Martial Arts, Pro Club Super League, Selangor Xtiv Video Challenge and Selangor FIFA Pro Club League 2020,” he said.
