SOP relaxation for sports, recreational activities only under phase three of NRP – Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Relaxation on Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOP) for all individual sports and recreational activities which do not involve physical contact is only given to areas that come under Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), said the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS).

Thus, KBS in a statement on its official Facebook site today said that an infographic announcement claiming that all individual sports activities were allowed as viralled on the social media is fake news.

To date, only Perlis, Sarawak and Labuan have entered Phase Three of the PPN.

“KBS views seriously the viralling of the false infographic which confuses the public.

“Please refer only to accurate information issued by KBS or surf http://www.kbs.gov.my/sopsukanrekreasi apart from going directly to the National Security Council’s official website at www.mkn.gov.my (for authentic information),” it said.

The false infographic that went viral on social media had claimed that sports and recreational activities such as jogging, exercising, badminton, tennis, golf, motoring, climbing, swimming, jetski, tai chi, cycling, skateboarding, equestrian, tenpin bowling, archery and gymnasium activities were allowed from 6 am to midnight so long as the SOP on physical distancing of at least two to three metres apart was complied with.
