Anis Centre starts operating at IDCC today

SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — The Selangor Educational Support Centre for Special Needs Children (Anis Centre) has begun operating from today with eight children attending the lesson session with their parents at Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), here, today.

Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) general manager Gan Pei Nei said there were no fees imposed on all of the children as they came from low-income families.

“The Anis Centre started operating today with the assessment session involving both parents and their special needs kids. This week, we will hold the assessment session followed by the evaluation session and therapy session on the third week.

“The number of students enrolled in the centre is set to a minimum for each session as we are still in the pandemic situation and we have to observe the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” she said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Gan said the registration is still opened until October and any interested parents must register and complete the form provided on www.anisselangor.com/intervensianis together with the required documents.

“Anis Centre is offering early intervention services which run from Monday to Thursday on three different sessions namely 8.30am to 10.30am, 11am to 1pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

“Each participant will undergo their two hours session once a week. The successful applicants are allocated to undergo early intervention sessions for 12 months only,” she said.

Gan added that no tuition fee will be charged to the family with a household income below RM5,000.

Meanwhile, those earning RM5,001 to RM6,000 are charged RM50; RM6,001 to RM8,000 is RM70 and RM8,001 to RM10,000 is RM90.

Gan explained that for those who have more than one special child and earn RM5,001 to RM8,000, a discount of 50 per cent is given, while for those with an income of RM8,001 to RM10,000, a discount of 30 per cent is given.

On August 21, the Selangor government had established an educational support centre for special needs kids from the age of two to six years old.

State executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said among the services provided by the centre includes screening and early intervention.
