Covid-19: Selangor’s daily, weekly cases expected to decline, reaching endemic level

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — Covid-19 cases in Selangor are expected to continue to decline in the coming week based on the recent pattern over the past few days.

State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said the daily and weekly cases in Selangor are also expected to reach the minimum level referred to as the endemic level.

“According to the latest daily and weekly case trends which continue to show a decline, it can be expected that there will be a continued decline in the coming weeks.

“The decline needs to be maintained or improved by increasing the Covid-19 immunisation programme in Selangor, especially involving target groups such as local and foreign workers as well as teenagers who will return to school soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said screening on individuals with symptoms should continue to be focused on as a strategy to control the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

“Those with symptoms are encouraged to seek immediate treatment without delay because this measure will have a positive impact in controlling the pandemic in Selangor,” he said.

Selangor infection level maintains at 2,000 mark for three consecutive days since Monday. A total of 2,989 cases were recorded yesterday, 2,107 on Tuesday while 2,126 infections on Monday.
