Flash floods hit parts of Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, Sept 27 — Several areas around Shah Alam were hit by flash floods yesterday following heavy rain that lasted for several hours.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said at 3pm yesterday they received reports that several areas were flooded after a heavy downpour, with the worst affected location at the Shah Alam Stadium area in Section 13.

According to him, several roads around the area were flooded with waters up to four feet and a vehicle was stranded there but luckily the driver has managed to escape.

“Later the flood water in the area receded and everything is back under control,” he said.

Batu Tiga state assemblyman Rodziah Ismail informed that some of the areas under her constituency were also flooded.

Meanwhile, Persiaran Jubli Perak was also flooded with waters about 0.3 meters high which is the route from the Federal Highway to Section 20.

Pojek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) GCE on its Twitter also shared a picture of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) leading to the Shah Alam Toll Plaza that showed only one lane is open for vehicles due to the road being flooded.

Meanwhile, residents in the city also shared information on the flash floods that also hit several residential areas in Section 9, 10, 4 and 7.

Among the information they shared was on traffic congestion due to flooded roads.
