High demand for vaccination, medium-sized PPV proposed in Klang

By Mustakim Ramli

KLANG, Sept 27 — A medium-sized vaccination centre (PPV) needs to be opened in Klang to ensure more residents get vaccinated.

Its MP Charles Santiago said he had proposed the matter to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin during a meeting in Parliament last Thursday.

“I suggested that large areas such as Klang need to have a medium-sized PPV which is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“The PPV needs to be open for two to three months, to ensure those who have not been vaccinated get their jabs immediately. This proposal is based on the input I received from the residents,” he said.

Charles said this during the Selangor Vaccination Programme’s mobile unit (Selvax mobile) visit at the Dewan Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran here yesterday.

When asked about Khairy’s response to his request, he said the minister stated that he would respond to it later.

Charles added that the high number of public who showed up versus the Covid-19 vaccine doses available during yesterday’s programme supported the need to open a medium-sized PPV.

“We only have 1,200 doses to be administered but outside of the hall, there are hundreds of more people who want to be vaccinated.

“It is not that they refused to be vaccinated before, but they never receive calls for it from the relevant parties,” he said.
