SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — Selangor Hijrah Foundation (Hijrah) is planning to set up an entrepreneurship development bank.

Its executive director Datuk Seri Suparadi Md Noor said the idea to establish the bank came from Selangor’s Menteri Besar, with Hijrah striving to make it a reality.

“I was given the mandate to formulate a plan for the purpose in Selangor whereby Hijrah will be a part of the banking institutions.

“We are still in the midst of discussion. That is the goal and aims of the Menteri Besar,” he said during a talk show titled Hijrah Entrepreneurs: Facing up Covid-19 which was broadcast live on Media Selangor, yesterday.

On March 29, Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari said Hijrah has succeeded in producing a total of 57,211 entrepreneurs since its establishment six years ago.

He said the entrepreneurs have benefitted from various funds including the Micro Credit Financing Scheme, the Zero to Hero Financing Scheme, the Go Digital Financing Scheme and the Niaga Darul Ehsan Scheme (NaDI) with cumulative allocations of RM554,540,500.
