Hulu Bernam folks eager to receive vaccine

HULU BERNAM, Sept 14 — It was a successful day of vaccination in Hulu Bernam today when the Selangor Vaccination Programme’s mobile unit (Selvax mobile) came to visit.

Almost all the doses of the vaccine brought by the visiting team were used up.

Coordinating officer Mohd Amran Syakir said at the 5pm closing time, some 520 doses out of the 560 that were brought had been administered.

“This clearly shows that there is public awareness on the efficacy of vaccines. Most who came were foreigners.

“Before this, they had no idea that vaccines were being offered for free at Selvax. Today, they took the step to protect themselves and their family,” he said when met at the Dewan Orang Ramai Hulu Bernam.

Mohd Amran said people were arriving as early as 7am, two hours before the scheduled start time.

“We opened up an express lane for the elderly and the disabled, and also arranged for those who were unable to climb up the steps of the bus to receive their shots in the nearby hall.

“Anyone who missed out on today’s free shots can go for the one in Batang Kali on Thursday or the one in Kuala Kubu Bharu next week.”

Selvax mobile will run for 11 days from 9am to 5pm at Hulu Bernam, Bandar Baru Klang, Batu Tiga, Tanjung Sepat, Gombak Setia, Bukit Antarabangsa, Batang Kali, Banting, Teratai, Dengkil and Kampung Tunku.

The initiative was made possible from a RM200 million allocation under the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 that was announced on June 9.
