MB: Stay vigilant as Selangor enters Phase Two of NRP

SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 — People in Selangor are reminded to remain vigilant and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) despite the relaxation on restrictions as the state moves into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) today.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said negligence in doing so could lead to another outbreak of the virus apart from restrictions being enforced again.

He also reminded that it was the failure to comply with the SOPs that caused the infection rate to soar again after recording a decrease following vaccination exercise.

“Alhamdulillah, today Selangor is stepping into Phase Two of NRP. Continuous efforts by all parties to increase the vaccination rate have begun to show good results, especially the rate of bed use & infection rate in the state which has decreased.

“However, we must always remain vigilant by wearing face masks, practising social distancing and avoiding crowded places as well as maintaining cleanliness. This practice is part of the new norm that should be the responsibility of all the people of Selangor,” he posted on Facebook today.

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya enter Phase Two of the NRP today that offers more flexibility, including inter-district travel to those who are fully vaccinated.

Other relaxations granted to states that were in Phase Two previously, as stipulated by the National Security Council (NSC), are:

  • Long-distance married couples are allowed for interstate travel
  • Parents are allowed for interstate travel to meet children under 18 years old
  • Allowed to eat at stalls and restaurants
  • Tourism activities allowed within the same state involving homestays and hotels

States under Phase Two and Three of the NRP also enjoy the reopening of barbershops, hairdressing and beauty salons.
