Mobile vaccination starts next week, targets 1,000 recipients a day

SHAH ALAM, Sept 9 — The mobile vaccination programme to ensure no citizen of the state is left out of the Covid-19 immunisation drive will begin next week with a target of 1,000 people a day.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the mobile vaccination centre (PPV) would travel to all the state and parliamentary constituencies, with details of its schedule and location to be announced soon.

“There are two methods to it, which is we use a bus converted as PPV to move to the location proposed by the elected representative and gather residents there to be vaccinated.

“While for those who are bedridden at home, we will submit their names to JKNS (Selangor State Health Department) and PKD (District Health Office), and an NGO (non-governmental organisation) will do it (vaccination) from house-to-house,” she said when contacted.

She said the methods would benefit 1,000 individuals a day thus speed up herd immunity in the state.

On August 24, Dr Siti Mariah announced that the state’s mobile vaccination programme will begin in September to ensure more people are vaccinated.

She said the mobile clinics would go to locations where a number of people are still unvaccinated based on feedback from the community leaders as well as elected representatives.
