SELAYANG, Sept 22 — The Selangor state government has facilitated the application of temporary licenses to traders, including introducing a shorter approval process, says the state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.
He said the move was an initiative by the state government and local authorities (PBT) to help new traders, especially those who have lost their income due to Covid-19.
“The state government’s commitment was proven when more than 8,300 temporary licenses were issued by local authorities in the state since the initiative was launched in August last year until now.
“Local authorities will identify suitable locations for traders to conduct their operations, as we do not want problematic sites or disrupt traffic,” Ng said.
Earlier, he handed over 17 temporary licences to traders in Taman Selayang Mutiara and Kampung Selayang Indah near here.
Meanwhile, Ng said they would start discussing whether to extend the validity period of the temporary license, which ended on December 31.
“We will sit down to discuss it, when we get the approval of the State Executive Council (MMKN) sitting, I will make an announcement,” he said.
Beginning in August last year, Selangor’s local authorities started issuance of temporary licenses to unlicensed traders, especially to the low-income group (B40) who were affected by Covid-19.
Local authorities need to ensure that the trading sites are suitable, to ensure its safety, and ensure it does not cause any disturbances.
