SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 — The state government will kickstart an e-sports training programme to grow more talent to compete in Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) and in the international arena.
State exco for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said plans are underway for selected players to start training with a few experienced trainers in October.
“The training involves building up the players’ academic knowledge, their individual talents and also their physical abilities. We will work with trainers from UiTM (Universiti Teknologi Mara), APU (Asia Pacific University) dan Kolej Komuniti,” he said when contacted by Selangorkini.
On August 24, Mohd Khairuddin said Selangor wants to promote more activities on social media and e-sports, being the latest sporting trend, is one way of doing it.
“Among the e-sports programmes that we have planned this year are the Fifa Piala Budak Kampung (Fifa Village Champ), the Selangor Xtiv Virtual e-Sports dan the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Run.
“Other activities are the Selangor Virtual Martial Arts, the Pro Club Super League, the Selangor Xtiv Video Challenge dan the Selangor FIFA Pro Club League 2020,” he said.
